INDEX - ABOUT - FORUMThe JAC-Dan is ran at Northumbria University as the Japanese Culture, Animation & Comics society and everyone is welcome to come along! This page covers the basics of who we are, where we can be found, what we do and how to join us! As said, everyone is welcome to join; come along and meet us if you're interested! LOCATIONWe run on a weekly basis every Tuesday between 6pm-8pm in LIPMAN 034 on the City Campus, and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy! When you enter the doors at the front of Lipman, we're down a little corridor to the left, by 031 (the big lecture theatre), at the wall opposite Lipman Cafe!SCHEDULEAt present we perform on a monthly schedule of screenings, events and game nights. Every 4 weeks the schedule rotates and starts again to keep things fresh and organised. Our schedule is as follows:Week B: Video Games Week C: Events Night Week D: Movie/Drama Week A: Anime Screenings We screen 4 different anime every month, 1 episode each, varying between old-school, obscure and recent anime releases from different genres! For a list of past and present screenings visit our forum. Week B: Video Games The committee bring in games and consoles relating to a video game theme where everyone can join in! Previous themes have included; Brawl, Mario, Dancing games, Fighting games, and more! Week C: Events Night We have hosted a variety of 'events', and anything goes! We try to cover as many bases as possible to cover hot topics or frequently asked questions from members in a full session. Previous event nights have included; Cosplay basics, AMVs, Cinema trips and more! Week D: Movie/Drama Ghibli films, musicals, j-dramas, old favourites.. we've saved this slot for our favourite weird and wonderful films and TV dramas Japan has to offer. Of course, all of this is just a guideline; all weeks are subject to change, and we try to keep things as fresh as possible for members to enjoy! We are also always welcome to suggestions for new events and screenings - just ask! HOW TO JOINJoining the JAC-Dan is easy! For a year's membership, it costs just £5 and entitles you to everything the Society has to offer. The £5 cost covers our running costs, such as posters, equipment, booking fees, etc and lets us provide a fair and fun society with a good variety of quality resources.Students from Northumbria University can pay the £5 membership fee to the Student Welcome Desk in the Student's Union building to become a full member of the society. Alternatively, you can also sign up online at the Student's Union Website, which costs £5.50 (online signup has a 50p surcharge). Students from Newcastle University are also welcome to join and can sign up the same way. There are a few small exceptions though; Newcastle students can't run to become committee, nor can they vote in committee members. Otherwise, everything is exactly the same and you get all the same privilidges! Outside members (those not from Northumbria or Newcastle Universities) are also welcome to attend the JAC-Dan and do not have to pay a membership fee, but will have restricted access as members. This includes not being allowed to run as committee, not being allowed to vote in committee, and potentially being denied access to restricted events. But for the most part everyone is welcome to attend and if any restricted events are upcoming you will be warned in advance! You are also welcome to come along for a couple of sessions to get you started before you sign up as a taster. Pop along one Tuesday and see what you think! THE COMMITTEEThe committee of the JAC-Dan are a lovely friendly bunch of nerdy geordie girls. We come off as a little scary but we're lovely, really!
